Why convert PDF to Word?
PDFs are made for reading, not editing. When you need to update a contract, reuse text from a report or fix a typo in a document you only have as a PDF, converting it to Word saves retyping everything.
A DOCX lets you change wording, restructure sections, update tables and then export a fresh PDF when you're done.
It's also the quickest way to get text and tables out of a PDF into a format that other tools understand.
PDF vs Word
A PDF stores where every character is drawn on a fixed page; it doesn't know what's a paragraph, a heading or a table cell. Converting to Word means rebuilding that structure from the layout.
Documents that were created digitally, for example exported from Word, convert best: paragraphs, headings, bordered tables and images come back editable. Complex magazine-style layouts may need some tidying afterwards.

Is it safe?
PDF to Word is one of the few tools on this site that needs a server, because the conversion software can't run in a browser. Your file is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our server in the EU.
The file is converted in memory and deleted as soon as the PDF is sent back to you. Nothing is stored, and the server keeps no access logs of who converted what.
The converter is open source. Because it uses PyMuPDF (AGPL-3.0), its complete source code is available to download from the conversion server.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the Word document look exactly like the PDF?
For most digitally created PDFs it's very close: text, headings, bordered tables, lists and images are rebuilt. Multi-column layouts, text over images and unusual fonts may need small adjustments after conversion.
Can I convert a scanned PDF?
Not yet. Scanned PDFs are pictures of pages with no text inside, so there's nothing editable to extract. Text recognition (OCR) is planned; for now you'll get a clear message if a PDF is scanned.
What happens to tables?
Tables with visible borders become real Word tables you can edit. Tables drawn without any lines are kept as text, aligned as closely as possible, because guessing their columns often scrambles the content.
Are my documents uploaded?
Yes, this is one of the few tools that needs a server. The file is sent over HTTPS to our server in the EU, converted and deleted immediately. It's never stored, and no access logs are kept.
Can I convert password-protected PDFs?
Not yet. Open the PDF in your PDF viewer, remove the password or print it to a new PDF, and convert that copy.
Is there a page limit?
PDFs of up to 200 pages and 50 MB can be converted. Very long documents take a little longer.
