Why convert PNG to JPG?
PNGs of photos or detailed screenshots can be many megabytes. The same image as a JPG is usually a fraction of the size, which helps when an email, form or website has an upload limit.
JPG is the most widely accepted image format. Some older software, print services and upload forms still accept only JPG.
If your PNG has a transparent background, you choose the colour that replaces it, so the JPG looks right where it will be used.
PNG vs JPG
PNG is lossless and supports transparency, which makes it the right format for logos, icons and screenshots with sharp text. JPG is lossy and has no transparency, but it's far more efficient for photos and photo-like images.
As a rule of thumb, convert photos to JPG, and keep flat graphics and text-heavy images as PNG or WebP.

Is it safe?
Yes. PNG to JPG runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read and converted by your own device using built-in browser technology, so they are never uploaded to a server and nobody else can see them.
You can check this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab and convert a file. No upload requests are made.
The new file is created from the image's pixels only, so EXIF metadata such as GPS location, camera model and capture time is not copied into it.
Files stay in this tab's memory only until you remove them or close the page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens to transparent areas?
JPG has no transparency, so transparent and semi-transparent pixels are blended onto a solid background colour. White is the default; pick any colour in the settings.
What quality setting should I use?
90%, the default, is visually lossless for almost every image. 75–85% gives noticeably smaller files and is fine for photos on the web. Graphics with sharp text may need 90% or more to avoid artifacts around edges.
Why is my JPG larger than the PNG?
Simple graphics with few colours, like logos or diagrams, compress extremely well as PNG, and JPG isn't designed for them. Keep those as PNG, or try PNG to WebP.
Can I convert screenshots to JPG?
Yes, but small text can look slightly soft at lower settings. Use 90% or higher, or keep text-heavy screenshots as PNG.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The conversion uses your browser's own image engine. Your PNGs never leave your computer or phone.
