How to convert WebM to MP3

  1. Drop your WebM files into the box above, or click Choose files. You can add several at once.

  2. Pick a bitrate. 192 kbps sounds transparent to most listeners; 320 kbps is the maximum.

  3. Click Convert to MP3. Files are processed on your device; a few minutes of media usually takes seconds.

  4. Download the MP3 files one by one, or all at once as a ZIP.

Why convert WebM to MP3?

WebM is what many screen recorders, browser-based recording tools and web apps save. When you only need the sound, like a recorded call, a presentation or a voice note, an MP3 is smaller and easier to share.

WebM files don't open in many Apple and Windows apps, car stereos or music players. MP3 plays on all of them.

Recordings of calls and meetings are private. They're converted on your device and never uploaded.

WebM vs MP3

WebM is a web video container with VP8, VP9 or AV1 video and Opus or Vorbis audio. MP3 is audio only and plays on practically every device.

The audio track is decoded and re-encoded as MP3 at the bitrate you choose. The video track is discarded.

Is it safe?

Yes. WebM to MP3 runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read and converted by your own device using built-in browser technology, so they are never uploaded to a server and nobody else can see them.

You can check this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab and convert a file. No upload requests are made.

Audio is decoded and encoded by your browser, using its built-in media engine and a WebAssembly MP3 encoder. Recordings, voice memos and interviews never leave your device.

Files stay in this tab's memory only until you remove them or close the page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why won't my WebM open on my iPhone or in Windows Media Player?

Support for WebM outside web browsers is patchy, especially in Apple apps and older Windows players. The MP3 you get here plays in all of them.

My file is audio only. Does it still work?

Yes. WebM files that contain only audio, like some voice recordings, convert the same way.

Does it matter whether the audio is Opus or Vorbis?

No. WebM audio is usually Opus, sometimes Vorbis, and both are decoded and turned into the same kind of MP3.

Will the MP3 sound worse than the original?

Converting from one lossy format to another loses a little detail. At 192 kbps or higher, almost nobody can hear the difference. Use 320 kbps if you want the best possible copy.

Is there a file size limit?

Each file can be up to 500 MB. Files are read from disk in small pieces, so long recordings don't need to fit in memory.
