How to convert OGG to MP3

  1. Drop your OGG files into the box above, or click Choose files. You can add several at once.

  2. Pick a bitrate. 192 kbps sounds transparent to most listeners; 320 kbps is the maximum.

  3. Click Convert to MP3. Files are processed on your device; a few minutes of media usually takes seconds.

  4. Download the MP3 files one by one, or all at once as a ZIP.

Why convert OGG to MP3?

WhatsApp saves voice messages as .opus files and Telegram as .ogg. Both use the Ogg format with Opus audio, which many phones, music apps, editors and upload forms don't accept. MP3 works everywhere.

Games, open-source software and sound libraries often ship their audio as OGG with Vorbis. Converting to MP3 makes it usable in apps that only take MP3.

Voice messages are personal. Here they're converted on your device instead of being uploaded to a converter's server.

OGG vs MP3

OGG is a container, usually holding Opus (voice messages) or Vorbis (music and games) audio. Both are more efficient than MP3, so an MP3 of the same quality is a little bigger.

MP3's advantage is compatibility: it plays on practically every device and is accepted by every app.

Is it safe?

Yes. OGG to MP3 runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read and converted by your own device using built-in browser technology, so they are never uploaded to a server and nobody else can see them.

You can check this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab and convert a file. No upload requests are made.

Audio is decoded and encoded by your browser, using its built-in media engine and a WebAssembly MP3 encoder. Recordings, voice memos and interviews never leave your device.

Files stay in this tab's memory only until you remove them or close the page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert a WhatsApp voice message?

Save the voice message to your phone first: on iPhone, touch and hold it, tap Forward, then Share and Save to Files; on Android, share it or find it in the WhatsApp folder of your file manager. Then open this page and choose the .opus file.

Are .opus files supported?

Yes. An .opus file is Opus audio in an Ogg container, the same format as .ogg, and converts the same way.

Which bitrate should I use for voice messages?

For voice messages, 128 kbps is more than enough and keeps files small. For music, choose 192 kbps or higher.

Will the MP3 sound worse than the original?

Converting from one lossy format to another loses a little detail. At 192 kbps or higher, almost nobody can hear the difference. Use 320 kbps if you want the best possible copy.

Is there a file size limit?

Each file can be up to 500 MB. Files are read from disk in small pieces, so long recordings don't need to fit in memory.
